Meet Margaret, a remarkable woman with Down syndrome who is smart, witty and an inspiration to anyone who meets her, and Augusta, her 92 year old, no-nonsense mother who has been her guardian, confidante and lifelong advocate.

Experience the tense moments after Margaret's birth, the challenges she faced as a child, and her awe-inspiring life as an adult, including a jam-packed social calendar, colorful friends and numerous accomplishments. Get to know Mama, in all her exquisite southernness, whose emotional, quirky and sometimes hilarious relationship with Margaret provides an underlying current throughout each chapter.

This book is not just for parents, friends or family members of someone with Down syndrome - it's for anyone who appreciates all the goodness life has to offer.

Presentation in Michigan

posted on May 14, 2013

I just returned from Ann Arbor, Michigan where I spoke to the Down syndrome Support Team parent group. Thank you, Elaine Luther for setting everything up, and for hosting me. Also, thanks for ordering up the perfect weather! Who would have ever thought that I would LEAVE Alabama in May to find much warmer, sunnier weather in Michigan? I enjoyed meeting everyone who came to my presentation, and who bought books. It’s always such an honor to talk about my life as Margaret’s sister. I hope to see you all again sometime soon!
