Embry Burrus was born in 1960 in Columbus, Georgia. She holds a Master of Communication Disorders degree from Auburn University. After practicing as a speech-language pathologist in Atlanta, Georgia for four years, she returned to Auburn, and is now on the Clinical Faculty in Department of Communication Disorders. Embry has always enjoyed writing, whether letters to friends (and now e-mail), and is co-author of a textbook, Professional Communication in Speech Pathology: How to Write, Talk and Act like a Clinician. She also enjoys storytelling, and has been relating stories about her family for many years. Mama and Margaret is her first attempt at actually writing them down. She has been published in By Line, Lake Martin Living and the Birmingham Arts Journal.
