As most of you know, Margaret LOVES her birthday. As usual, she started “reminding” me around November, which actually means she started talking about what she wanted to do, where she wanted to do it, and how many Big Girl drinks would be involved! So, this past weekend, Margaret and our sweet nephew Max, who is 8, came over to Auburn to celebrate. We went to Mikata, a Japanese Steak House, and Margaret had her celebratory Coors Light (her new beer of choice, not sure why). I’ve added a picture of the three of us here. Happy Birthday, Margaret, and I hope we have many more chances to have a Girl’s Night Out! Hope everyone is having a great 2012!

Margaret came to visit this past weekend, and we watched the Auburn v. LSU game (ugh), but had some fun, too. We watched the game at Vivian’s house, and enjoyed spending time with her and her dogs – Nanny fell in love with Margaret, as do most animals, and wanted to sit at her feet all afternoon. I’m posting a photo of Margaret with our cat, Biscuit, who usually does not get anywhere near people she doesn’t know well…what can I say? Margaret just has that something special!

Hi, all – it’s been a while since I’ve posted – seems like life has rushed by since this time last year. Our family has been very busy since that time, as well. Jake, Julie, Jake III and Max are on the second year of their cross-country adventure, we all spent five days in the Florida Keys in March, and then Mama turned 92 in April! Margaret has been busy with T.R. activities and Special Olympics and continues adding to her collection of medals. I’m posting a photo of the three of us at the Cracker Barrel (one of their favorite places to eat) in Opelika from Oct. 16, when my friends from California were here for the Auburn vs. Florida game. It was a beautiful weekend and we had a great time.

Hello, everyone…
Margaret and I had a wonderful time in Columbia last weekend. Mama decided to come along for the ride, which made it even more special. It was an honor for me to be the keynote speaker for the first ever South Carolina Adult Siblings Leadership Conference. Margaret was her usual charming self, and of course, was the celebrity of the day! Here are some pics of us signing books, and Margaret wearing her beads that Gayle gave her – thanks, Gayle – we enjoyed your music!
I’d also like to thank Melanie Burnett, Susan DuRant and Mary Eady for making our weekend so special and so much fun. Thanks, as well to all the people who attended the conference. It was great meeting all of you!

Hello, all…
This weekend, Margaret and I are off to Columbia, SC to speak at the S.C. Adult Sibling Leadership Conference. Melanie Burnett, who is one of the organizers saw where Margaret and I had spoken to the Down syndrome Group of the Low Country in Charleston, SC two years ago. Back in April, she sent me an e-mail and asked if we’d like to be the keynote speakers for their siblings conference. I was very honored, and of course, Margaret was ecstatic. After all, any public appearance gives her the opportunity to increase her celebrity exposure!
I’ll post pictures and info next week to give you an update.

As many of you know, Mama and Margaret provide endless hours of laughter and entertainment – not because they’re trying to be funny; it’s just that their banter about everyday happenings just happens to be funny most of the time – that’s just who they are! As these stories unfold, I’ll be sharing them here on the blog, so please stay tuned…
